Giving up cheese and (gasp!) chocolate.
Last Labor Day I decided to get off my ass and make some changes. I went on to lose about 30 lbs. In May I went hardcore (just my version of hardcore which is actually not very hardcore at all) and gave up chocolate and cheese for the month. It was the best I’d ever looked or felt. Then summer came along and everything went all to hell.
So to kickoff another season of getting serious, I’m giving up cheese and chocolate again. Though I haven’t eaten meat in over 3 years, I do still eat fish/seafood and eggs. I’m going to try to avoid those too. I’m even going to try to take it easy on the beer for a while. At least until Oktoberfest.
The past three days have gone pretty well. I whipped up some tofu scramble for breakfast using frozen potatoes, Morningstar sausage, tofu, and veggies. I made a lot of it and wrapped the leftovers in whole wheat tortillas to have breakfast burritos later.

I’ve also been scouring the internet for some appetizing vegan recipes. The first one I tried was this recipe from VeganYumYum. While I admit that it tastes absolutely nothing like a real Alfredo sauce, it was actually pretty good and I was satisfied after eating it. I’ll definitely make it again.
I’ve started pinning other recipe ideas onto my food pinboard. Does anyone have any good blog or website recommendations for recipes?

You should invest in Isa Chandra’s Appetite for Reduction vegan cookbook. It’s full of low-fat vegan recipes that are delish! And no choc?!?
